The Undersea Platform Analysis Group (UPAG), within Maritime Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices.  Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities and includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy’s top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to the undersea forces.  Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA’s decades of support to the SSBN force and/or assist in developing the design requirements for the SSN of the future. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Senior Technical Program Analyst - Propulsor R&D Management, located in Washington, DC. #CJ #IN123

Responsibilities

The Technical Program Analyst for Propulsor R&D Management will provide analytic, technical, and management decision support directly to senior Navy leadership for undersea platform acquisition activities, focusing on the new SSN-X program and execution of early propulsor technology R&D management efforts. The Analyst should expect to perform detailed analysis, assess technical readiness, provide executive level decision support, brief senior leaders frequently and be a key integrating member of a high profile team.  This position is seated in Washington, DC (Washington Navy Yard) with opportunity for light telework.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant technical field.
  • 5+ years supporting new defense acquisition program technical management efforts.
  • Subject matter expertise in R&D program management and execution.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to analyze information and communicate to decision makers.
  • Current DoD security clearance - minimum Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment.

Additional Qualifications Desired, but not required:

  • Knowledge of Navy propulsor and shafting technologies. 
  • Experience working on Navy, submarine, or undersea related programs.
  • Experience with and knowledgeable of the Navy requirements, Gate Reviews, and program office organizations and processes.
