SPA’s Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Air Force, Army, DoD Agencies, DARPA, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defence Force.  Our primary objective is to provide timely, objective and analytic assessments that integrate the policy, operational, technical, programmatic and acquisition aspects of our clients’ challenges.

 

Leveraging both in-domain and cross-domain expertise to maximize our clients’ success, SLA Division acts as trusted agents to senior decision-makers and key leaders and excels at providing data driven analytic insights, systems engineering, strategies and plans that address current and emerging challenges to national security.

 

Within the SLA Division, Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) comprises more than 80 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, logistics, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support to more than 40 programs and projects in the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems, Above Water Sensors Directorate (PEO IWS 2.0) and customers in Naval Surface Warfare Dahlgren Division’s Integrated Combat System department, Office of Naval Research, and the Navy’s Team SUBS office. #MC

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division's (NSWCDD) Electromagnetic and Sensor Department.

You will lead Nulka Decoy software design, development and engineering related to system level development, including developing real-time system and subsystem level software products. You will be expected to both lead software IPTs/WGs as well as produce impactful products. 

You must have the ability to provide detailed and thorough engineering analysis and briefings and have the ability to work from NSWC Dahlgren at least 2-3 days per week. The first several weeks will require 4-5 days in the office to accelerate onboarding processes. No travel is expected in this position. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of experience in software design, development and engineering applied to program and system level development, including demonstrated experience in developing real-time system and subsystem level software products, databases (Oracle, MSAccess, etc), knowledge or experience with operating systems (LINUX and MS Windows) and interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience or equivalent with Navy or other Armed Services programs and/or systems.

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university in engineering, computer/software engineering or computer science

  • Demonstrated experience in most or all of the following areas:

    • Modeling and/or simulations, real-time system control architectures, interface coding, Information Assurance/Cyber Security requirements, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) experience, experience and/or ability to code in the following: in C++; C #; JAVA; Simu-Link; Python, RTI-DDS, and PLA.
    • Developing software to communicate with other hardware using TCP/IP, UDP, and serial communications.
    • Combat system integration and system architecture.
    • Object Oriented software design concepts.
    • GNAT Ada compiler; VxWorks; Tornado.
    • Electronic Warfare Systems and other Shipboard systems.
    • Navy Software Safety and industry best programming practices.
    • Agile methodology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with Navy ship/combat system integration or hypersonic weapons
