The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID provides the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) technical expertise for decision support to ensure technical overmatch for the U.S. Armed Forces against any potential adversaries. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled exploring cutting-edge technology and helping government program managers evaluate, select, and manage research programs to transition promising technologies and ensure U.S. military forces retain technological superiority in the future.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Specialist in Combat Medical Operations to provide onsite support in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

The candidate will support the DARPA BTO Program Managers and the DARPA BTO Front Office in building strategic map of technical gaps in operational medicine, while helping to map and model technical requirements from point of injury through damage control surgery (Role 2 care). Additionally, this individual will need to generate new ideas and critique other innovation concepts to build truly DARPA-worthy solutions to revolutionize operational medicine. The qualified candidate will provide expert guidance on scientific and technological aspects to PMs and internal stakeholders, empowering them to make informed decisions. Additonal duties include support to PMs in their ideation loops, providing technical expertise and insights to help them develop and refine concepts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Technical expertise in combat medical operations, expertise in tactical combat casualty care and/or en route care
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the mature judgment required to advise senior government personnel
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks such as briefing support and general administrative actions
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant experience

Desired: 

  • Active TS clearance
  • Master's degree
