The Joint Office of the Secretary of Defense Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

SPA's NATO Allied Command Transformation Group within JOID provides capability development, portfolio management, program management, quality management, cost estimation analysis, standardization, reporting, software solutions and information management, and capability management support. We also provide an improved capability requirements capture process, including the generation, documentation and tracing of user requirements, with appropriate technical scrutiny, over the entire lifecycle of the requirements from capability definition through capability realization and capability usage.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Solutions Architect. This position is a full-time remote opportunity.

  

Responsibilities

Design, build, and implement secure, scalable, and reliable software systems architectures that meet the business requirements. Oversee the big picture of the platform and Minimum Viable Product development; look for (software) patterns and for re-use of best practices between all Teams. Collaborate with developers and the platform team to identify the best (software) solutions to drive agile methodologies. Oversee the Minimum Viable Products to meet the needs from the platform perspective so that products are able to go through the DevSecOps lifecycle. Advise the platform team to meet the needs from the Minimum Viable Products perspective so that the platform is able to support the DevSecOps lifecycle.  Ensure all the iHub Laboratory development practices work together across the various disciplines to ensure the products work seamlessly across the portfolio.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect or in a Senior Engineering Lead role
  • Experience as a Full Stack Developer
  • Knowledge of and experience with software microservice architecture, information system design tools and techniques, and modern Identity and Access Management solutions
  • Knowledge of and experience with modern software/hardware architectures, design patterns, key hardware/software technologies, and technology paradigm shifts
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines in teams embracing Agile DevSecOps principles
  • Experience with the following environments and tools: GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Keycloak, Materiel Design System
  • Experience developing documentation on recommended technology solutions including research, cost analysis, risk information, and implementation strategy and be able to socialize and educate
  • Industry recognizable cloud solutions architect certification and working experience with cloud environments > 48 month
  • Familiarity with architecture modelling standards (e.g. UML, Archimate, BPMN) and working experience with architecture tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Power Designer, Archi, ARIS, XMLSpy)
  • Project management skills and certification
  • Fluent in English (written and oral)

  • Experience as a DevSecOps Engineer
