The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

SPA's Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) has an immediate need for a Junior Risk Analyst who will provide support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) office. Provide rational, systematic, science-based techniques, and critical thinking to help inform and improve the Department’s decision-making abilities for preparation, response and recovery to Weapons of Mass Destruction scenarios. Participate in a wide range of modeling activities including, but not limited to, model implementation and operations, model use documentation, data transformation, database schema design, and data quality assurance process design, execution, and oversight.

Responsibilities

The Junior Risk Analyst will be assist in identifying and prioritizing CWMD mission gaps and needs. Develop and use operations research techniques such as mathematical optimization, decision analysis, graph theory, and statistical analysis. Implement data exploration techniques, analytical methods, operations research, and modeling and simulation tools to support program execution. Assist in the development of plans of action and timetables in order to meet established deadlines. Assist with development of executive briefings, detailed technical documentation, memos, and Contract Deliverables. Assist with risk assessment scenarios and various displays and reporting of analysis. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience and experience in any of the following programming languages: Python, R, MATLAB, Java, C++, VBA, SQL.
  • Active Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI and DHS Suitability.

Preferred

  • Experience providing analytical support to the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Experience with quantitative risk analysis and/or experience building and validation a model or simulation.
  • Active TS/SCI

Salary transparency pay range for the Washington DC area: $70k-$100k
