The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) provides analytical and consulting across several major Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Commerce, and other Federal civilian programs supporting the U.S. Government’s priorities of ensuring a resilient supply chain for critical and emerging technologies; and strengthening, protecting and securing the US economy and industrial base.

 

The objective of this project is to enhance the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Office of Technology Evaluation’s (OTE) & Strategic Industries and Economic Security’s (SIES) ability to conduct technical analysis, research, data analytics, data visualization, and technical support for the BIS Export Administration (EA). ISAG is seeking a Supply Chain/Economic/Compliance Analyst to provide immediate support to OTE/SIES in their mission to advance U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership. This role will provide analytic support for Industrial Base surveys, risk assessments of national defense supply chain capabilities, and export policy and national security control analysis.

 

This role is located at Department of Commerce, Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB), Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

Apply familiarity with data analysis, survey tools and approaches, the ability to convert data into actionable information, and understanding of U.S. export policies. Support OTE/SIES’ Industrial Assessment Division in the design, execution, and analysis of surveys; respond to Industry Requests for Information, Industry Notice of Inquiries, Section 232 Investigations, and Foreign Availability Assessments; and perform evaluations of the effectiveness of export controls on U.S. competitiveness. Will support a range of tasks under the direction and supervision of a task lead: interact with industry to ensure survey respondents adhere to survey obligations and assist them in compliance; collect and analyze the data returned from surveys, to include drafting charts, graphs, and developing written information to support reports and government decision making; conduct project-related research on technologies, industries, and other matters related to the survey scope; gather and analyze data to assess supply chains and the effectiveness of export policies, controls, and compliance; conduct analysis on export policies, national security controls, and export control compliance; attend required activity team meetings, as well as meetings with the sponsor agencies and project stakeholders; perform data entry, database administration, and routine business operations; assist in drafting presentation materials for briefing partners and outreach with stakeholders; draft/edit chapters of industrial base reports; prepare and process correspondence, agendas, technical reports, presentations, briefings, and other related documentation; and attend project-related events and conferences.

Qualifications

Required

  • BA/BS degree and 0-2 years of experience conducting data analysis or survey support.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • MS Office 365 suite proficiency, including SharePoint.
  • Hands-on experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and graphic projects.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).

Desired:

  • Experience involving trade and export control policies.
  • Microsoft Power BI proficiency.

Salary transparency pay range: $57k-$62k
