The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.

 

SPA's Strategic Division's Strategic Development Group (SDG) supports critical U.S. government programs providing Systems Engineering support, Systems Safety support and Financial Analysis support. SDG is hiring for a Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will support SSP's Ship Integration Branch (SP26) with identifying, managing, and resolving technical issues related to the COLUMBIA/Common Missile Compartment Program. This support will include regularly coordinating with program managers and engineers at stakeholder organizations to ensure solutions to issues are technically rigorous/sound and in alignment with program plans. Additionally, this support will involve managing programmatic risks for SP26 and other SSP organizations. The ideal candidate will proactively identify client needs, be able to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly, and drive issues to closure. 

 

While this position will be based out of SPA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA, the Analyst will be expected to travel regularly to the Washington Navy Yard to engage with clients. Additional travel opportunities are available to the Groton, CT, and Cape Canaveral, FL, areas. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • 3+ years professional experience with defense programs.
  • U.S. citizen with DoD security clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain clearance while employed with SPA.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, time management, and interpersonal skills.

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • U.S. Navy Submarine Officer experience.
  • Experience working with Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).
  • Experience working with DoD engineering and acquisition processes.
