SPA is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Supervisor with labor accounting experience to join our team in the government contracting sector. This role involves managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining adherence to the requirements of government contracts, including FAR and DCAA standards. The Payroll Supervisor will play a critical role in leading payroll processes, supervising a team, and ensuring timely and accurate compensation for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to DCAA, FAR, and government contracting payroll standards.
  • Reconcile payroll, benefits contributions, timesheets, and labor data while resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage garnishments, tax levies, and other payroll deductions per legal guidelines.
  • Lead and mentor payroll staff, fostering high-quality performance and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and project managers to integrate payroll with benefits and accounting systems.
  • Prepare reports and support audits for internal stakeholders and government agencies.
  • Maintain payroll system updates and process improvements for efficiency and compliance.
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll, timesheets, and labor distributions.
  • Stay informed on evolving payroll regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, including FLSA, IRS guidelines, and DCAA/FAR compliance.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP or SAP.
  • Experience in the government contracting industry is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Costpoint & Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
