The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

The DARPA Support Group within JOID specializes in critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Commerical Strategy Content Manager SETA to support DARPA's Commercial Strategy team onsite in Arlington, VA

 

DARPA’s Commercial Strategy Team applies an end-to-end approach to commercializing some of DARPA’s most impactful technologies. Working with DARPA’s top performers and researchers, and bringing in top entrepreneurs, venture and private investors, and other DoD and commercial experts and teams, we accelerate DARPA technologies to drive new products, services, and capabilities for the DoD and commercial markets for both economic and national security. DARPA has a 65-year history of bringing some of the top technical innovations to the world including the Internet, GPS, LEDs, self-driving cars, and more. In your role, you will be part of an elite team working with some of DARPA’s most brilliant PMs and performers, as well as world class commercial advisors, corporate leaders, private investors, the DoD, and other US Government Agencies on behalf of the Director’s Office (DIRO). Our mission is to accelerate the commercialization of some of our nation’s most critical technologies to advance DARPA’s mission: to pose and prevent strategic technological surprise.

Responsibilities

The Commercial Strategy Content Manager SETA will work as part of an exciting team to provide digital content and expert business, outreach, communications, and analytics support in a demanding, and fast-paced professional environment. Primary objectives are to provide strategic communications, content development, and social media strategy for the Commercial Strategy Front Office, and successfully serve DARPA’s mission. Apply expertise in content creation and digital media that exhibits a commitment to advancing national and economic security, and engage with key stakeholders from DoD, academia, industry, and the private investment community. Work closely with Commercial Strategy’s leadership to develop and execute Commercial Strategy’s communications plan, manage public relations and digital media campaigns, and drive increased awareness of program equities across the government. Collaborate with DARPA stakeholders and external partners, and review and develop digital content and messaging that demonstrates the high impact of commercialization efforts for national and economic security. Provide comprehensive communications expertise to the Commercial Strategy Office including managing all content creation, revisions, retention, and compliance. Develop content roadmaps and integrate communications strategies to promote Commercial Strategy’s equities in support of DARPA’s mission. Ensure Commercial Strategy’s content, presentations, materials, and messaging are aligned with DARPA branding and policies, including from technical and administrative offices. Leverage prior marketing or content management experience to produce high-quality content, including digital media, presentation materials, and strategic messaging. Collaborate with DARPA PMs, Commercial Strategy Team Leads, Tech-to-Market SETAs, and Analysts to translate technological concepts and market analysis data into concise messaging and visual formats that elicit interest from a wide range of government, commercial, academic, and investor audiences. Edit materials for public release to ensure consistent messaging to all audiences and compliance with DARPA dissemination policies. Ensure communications strategy is in full compliance with corporate communications policies. Incorporate visual storytelling techniques to strengthen communication campaigns, ensuring the visual elements complement the written messaging. Formalize and expand Commercial Strategy’s digital media presence to secure additional resources and effectively engage stakeholders. Support the development of messaging, talking points, speeches, analysis, and presentations, and implementation of requirements and best practices. Identify and develop case studies and other analyses of results for briefings and to capture lessons learned. Define and track metrics to enhance the effectiveness of communications.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or economics
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with digital content creation in a corporate or government defense organization
  • 3+ years of hands-on presentation and PowerPoint experience, with a proven track record of creating compelling presentation pitches for clients in technology or R&D
  • Prior experience working with a communications team in a technology or R&D organization, including designing and implementing communications strategies and plans
  • Ability to analyze data to communicate with business, investor, government, and R&D audiences
  • Experience working with branding and design guidelines to create cohesive and consistent visual campaigns in government and/or commercial industry
  • Track record of developing and executing multichannel content strategies (digital, social media, print, etc.)
  • Previous experience creating and executing successful marketing campaigns
  • Mastery in PowerPoint, Office 365, Dynamics, Adobe Creative Suite, and other similar web tools
  • Skilled expertise in distilling complex concepts and information into professional, visually appealing, and easy-to-read executive-level, corporate presentations in alignment with brand standards and corporate messaging
  • Demonstrated success disseminating communications products in a classified environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen interest in technological innovation
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Desired:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree in business, marketing, or economics
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, corporate communications, or public relations
  • Proficiency in design and web tools
