We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior Closeout Billing Accountant to join our team. The individual in this role will be responsible for leading the closeout billing process, ensuring accurate and timely final billing to customers, reconciling final invoice to revenue and amount billed to amount received. The ideal candidate will have advanced accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex billing tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the closeout billing process ensuring adherence to contract terms and conditions, compliance with GAAP, CAS, FAR, and SPA policies.
  • Prepare final invoices after contract ends, ensuring all costs have been accurately billed to include rate variances, fee, and retainage.
  • Maintain a closeout tracker to include pending, in progress, and completed.
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for closeout billing.
  • Reconcile final invoice to revenue, resolve outstanding issues preventing closeout, and request revenue adjustment, if needed.
  • Reconcile amount billed and paid; validate Release and Assignment amount claimed.
  • Collaborate with project control, project managers, contracts, and other departments to resolve any discrepancies and ensure all billing requirements are met.
  • Prepare invoices for canceling funds.
  • Coordinate with Contracts to request the signed Release and Assignment and validate the amount claimed.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders through teamwork and communication.
  • Perform project research, ad-hoc reporting, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years government contract closeout billing experience with knowledge of GAAP, CAS, and FAR
  • 4+ years Deltek Costpoint experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work well under pressure with short deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and strong problem solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, prioritization skills, and attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
