We seek an experienced Senior System Administrator with deep expertise in private cloud infrastructure, VMware, and Azure Cloud services. This role will focus on designing, deploying, and managing hybrid cloud environments, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of on-premises private clouds and Azure-based workloads. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, DRS, vSAN, and private cloud automation and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, governance, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

  1. Private Cloud Infrastructure Management
  • Design, deploy, and maintain VMware-based private cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Administer and optimize VMware vSphere, vCenter, DRS, and vSAN to support enterprise workloads.
  • Configure and troubleshoot virtual networking, firewalls, load balancing, and micro-segmentation.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (DR) for private cloud infrastructure using vSphere HA and Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
  1. Azure Cloud Administration
  • Manage and monitor Azure resources, including Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Virtual Networks (VNet), Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall.
  • Implement and maintain hybrid cloud integrations between on-premises private cloud and Azure Cloud.
  • Manage Azure Hybrid Identity solutions, Enterprise Applications, Federated Services, and Azure AD B2C.
  1. Security, Compliance, and Governance
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, and ISO 27001 for private and public cloud infrastructures.
  • Implement and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and least privilege principles across VMware and Azure environments.
  • Apply security hardening and controls to adhere to regulatory compliance standards.
  1. Monitoring & Troubleshooting
  • Manage and configure proactive monitoring solutions such as VMware Aria Suite.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of complex performance and availability issues.
  • Develop alerting and automation to improve operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  1. Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with network, security, and DevOps teams to ensure optimal hybrid cloud performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior system administrators.
  • Document processes, infrastructure configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Experience: 

  • 8+ years of system administration experience, with at least 5+ years managing private cloud and VMware environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Azure Cloud administration and infrastructure support experience.
  • VMware Certified Professional or Advanced Professional (VCP or VCAP) preferred.

Technical Skills: 

  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and virtual networking.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Compute, Hybrid + Multi-Cloud Management, Identity and Networking.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting skills for automation and orchestration.

Soft Skills: 

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for diagnosing complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to document technical solutions, infrastructure configurations, and best practices.

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, and FedRAMP.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud environments, including AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Security Clearance Requirement 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance (if required by the project).
