The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction.  Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy’s top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces.  Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA’s decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Ship's Control Non-Propulsion Electrical Systems (NPES) Systems Engineer located in the Washington DC Navy Yard. #MC

Responsibilities

The Ship's Control NPES Systems Engineer will be on a dynamic team, supporting the Team Submarine COLUMBIA Class Program Office Logistics and Sustainment Group. The COLUMBIA Class Program Office is responsible for the construction of COLUMBIA Class submarines, technical and design management, financial and budget management, shipyard and vendor support of submarines, logistical support, quality assurance (SUBSAFE), and post-delivery submarine certifications and test programs.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide routine administrative support to a RDT&E Program Manager, including but not limited to scheduling industry days, coordinating with vendors to develop performance work statements, concept of operations, integrated master schedules, etc.
  • Provide critical support in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency integrated product team of professional acquisition personnel across multiple sites nationwide.
  • Oversee collaborative development of requirements and programmatic documents (MOUs, SOWs, Project Outlines, etc.) with stakeholders.

 

This position is located in the Washington DC Navy Yard, with potential for travel.

 

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Washington, D.C. Pay Transparency Range:  $120-140k.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or a related field
  • 5-9 years in engineering or technical program analysis experience
  • Experience with fly-by-wire and ship's control systems on a submarine
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to analyze and represent data and communicate to decision makers
  • Current DoD security clearance - minimum Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Duty experience in the submarine service preferred
  • Recent experience working in Team Submarine
  • Experience with and knowledgeable of the Navy requirements and program office organizations and processes
