Integrated Warfare Systems Group comprises more than 100 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, product support, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support to more than 100 Above Water Sensor, Undersea, and Combat System programs and projects in the Navy’s Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and customers in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Navy’s Team Submarine Office.

 

SPA’s IWS Group office is located at 20 M Street in Southeast DC, conveniently down the street from our clients at the Washington Navy Yard. #MC

 

Hybrid work is allowed and you must have the ability to work at least 3 days per week in the office on average. Travel up to 25% may be required. #MC

Responsibilities

SPA is seeking a dedicated Junior Engineer to provide direct support to the Shipyard Integration Lead of the AN/SPY-6 Program within the Navy's Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems, Above Water Sensors Directorate's (PEO IWS 2.0).

 

Specific tasks include: 

  • Support system requirements management and related analysis activities, including but not limited to: supporting configuration control board meetings and deliverables and tracking and coordinating equipment deliveries and installation schedules
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations, and solutions for emerging engineering issues and topics (e.g., advise on design drawings) 
  • Learn quickly from Subject Matter Experts and rapidly contribute to the highest priority efforts
  • Provide meeting attendance/support, presentation development/support, publication support, correspondence, action item tracking/closure, and weekly reporting

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range:  $80,000 – $95,000.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other related technical degree 
  • 0-2 years relevant work experience
  • US Citizenship required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment
  • Knowledge and experience managing Naval shipyard communications, maintenance, installation, or testing schedules
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering/design drawings to decipher and interpret technical information

  • Familiarity with the DOD Acquisition Process and/or experience with warfare sensor systems
