The Space and Intelligence (S&I) Division provides engineering services and analytic support to the Air Force, Space Force, Combatant Commands, the Intelligence Community, and NASA. Our work includes systems engineering and integration, test planning and execution, cost estimating and analysis, developing approaches and concepts to meet emerging, high priority National Defense needs, and assessing and developing cutting-edge computer-based solutions, advanced technologies and progressive capabilities to meet those needs.

 

The S&I Division comprises the Intelligence Programs Group (IPG), the Space Systems Group (SSG), and the Strategic Technology Analysis Group (STAG), which collectively provide outstanding support to help their customers achieve our nation’s most critical objectives and goals designed to protect the safety and livelihoods of all U.S. Citizens, military forces at home and abroad.

 

S&I Division’s SSG has a near-term need for highly qualified Senior Space System Engineers to support our U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SDA&CP) and Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3) Support Services contract (Hemisphere) in the Huntsville, AL area.

Responsibilities

Senior Space System Engineers assist Program Office leadership performing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability, and analysis. Will work with program and project managers to support the design, development, and instantiation of space systems and advanced system capabilities. Successful candidates for this important opportunity will help enable advanced capabilities and proactive protective understanding of how space-based assets and programs operate, interact, and serve our highest priority national defense.

 

Key duties associated with this role include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Coordinate and manage exercises and operations training.
  • Develop and define technical requirements.
  • Develop models and to assess technical requirements.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree in an engineering or STEM discipline, preferably Systems Engineering with the following level of equivalency:
    • 6 years relevant program/project experience in addition to an earned Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • At least 10 years of related experience in space system design, development, qualification, production, deployment, and/or operations
  • Advance knowledge and skill in space control mission planning, electronic support, signal processing, and communications, and CONOPS development
  • Deep understanding of space threat environment, joint domain targeting, planning, and Command and Control (C2) activities
  • Expertise in DoD and Air Force intelligence capabilities, processes, and procedures
  • Expertise in space systems engineering; space systems design, development, integration and test; and transition to operations
  • Advanced knowledge in electronic attack technologies and system design implementation
  • Deep understanding of the relationships between Combatant Command (COCOM) and Tactical Control (TACON) authorities
  • Expertise with the Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC), USSTRATCOM, and their mission partners and associated relationships
  • Expertise in Configuration Management and Change Control, Risk Management and Opportunity Exploitation, Quality Assurance, Requirements Development and Traceability, Design Maturation, Independent Verification and Validation, Analysis of Alternatives, Facility Planning and Layout, Production Design, Test and Evaluation
  • Expertise in orbitology, space vehicle weight and power tradeoffs, Modeling and Simulation (M&S), rocket design, rocket fuel properties, rocket ground system operations, rocket launch dynamics, space system communications, space vehicle hardening, Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) properties, and solar power generation and storage
  • Expertise in developing and preparing space system documentations, including Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Risk Management Plans (RMPs), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), Configuration Management Plans, (CMPs), Integrated Master Plans (IMPs), Program Master Plans (PMPs), Integrated Master Schedules (IMPs), Integrated Program Baselines (PBs), Integrated Control Documents (ICDs), Software Development Plans (SDPs), and System Operation Control Plans
  • Advanced skills in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques, Cost Benefit Analysis, Failure Modes, Effectiveness and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Made vs. Buy Analysis, Supply Chain Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Statistical Quality Control, Continuous Process Improvement, Engineering Changer Proposals (ECPs), and Multi-Attribute Utility Analysis
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of higher order mathematics (e.g., Calculus I, II, and III), mechanical engineering (weight/thrust dynamics and thermodynamics), electrical engineering (circuits and power computations), aerodynamic engineering (friction, rocket boost phase dynamics, and orbital epidemiology), and industrial engineering (productivity, efficiency, time-value of money, operations research, statistics, ergonomics, job design, and work measurement).
  • Reports to designated work location in Huntsville, AL, up to full time, based on the needs of the customer

Desired:

  • Active or prior SAP access
  • Active USSF/SSC/SZ or BC SAP access
  • Current Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph or willingness to sit for one 
  • Specific direct experience performing space system design, development, qualification, production, deployment and/or operations tasks in the U.S. Air Force and/or the U.S. Space Force space system acquisition and/or operational environments 
  • Specific direct knowledge and experience with program/project management-related activity associated with Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Space Control, Space System Communications, satellite design, launch operations and space system operations 
  • Engineering-related certification or license (P.E.) 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, especially MS Project and MS SharePoint, CAM/CAM tools, Cameo System Modeler, and SysML applications (e.g., Enovia, Catia Systems Engineer, 3DX) 
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques, requirements management tool, such as DOORS, engineering modeling tools, such as MATLAB, and engineering management tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and/or other similar program/project management tools
