  • Overview

    Within Undersea and Surface Warfare Division, the Strategic Systems Analysis Group provides multiple organizations within the Department of Defense with timely and objective assessments and recommendations that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis.  We focus on key clients in the undersea community including Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), and NAVSEA program managers for the COLUMBIA Class SSBNs and in service submarines.  We work to provide integrated solutions based on information and communications throughout the chain of command to ensure clear and consistent analysis and recommendations that are aligned to strategic and leadership goals while still being executable by the working level technical communities. #CJ #IN123


    Conduct analysis for various national security topics in support of national security clients. Participate in a wide range of optimization and related modeling activities, including, but not limited to, model development and formulation, model implementation and operations, model and model use documentation, team collaboration, and optimization and operations research capability development. Responsible for gathering information, conducting analysis, preparing reports, presentations and whitepapers and presenting results.



    • Bachelor Degree in Mathematics or Operations Research from an accredited institution
    • 0-3 years of experience in applied mathematics analysis
    • Ability to understand complex problems and apply analytical methodologies to address them
    • Knowledg of problem solving using mathematical models and computer aided simulations
    • Ability to develop and utilize tailored tool to solve complex problems
    • Experience in any of the following programming languages: Python, R, MATLAB, Java, C++, et al.
    • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, with the ability to multitask while meeting deadlines 
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • US Citizen and Eligibility for TOP SECRET security clearance required

    Desired (e.g. Education, Certifications)
    • Graduate Degree in a related field is a plus
    • Demonstrated experience with the following classes of problems and solution approaches:
    o Asset scheduling problems
    o Mixed integer programming

    • Optimization experience using an optimization solver, such as CPLEX, Gurobi, or LP_Solve
    o Network flow problems
    • Experience working with PyCharm, git, BitBucket, Jira, and Confluence
    • Experience in any of the following technologies: Numpy, SciPy, matplotlib, scikit-learn, PyMC, Bokeh,, Tableau, Qlik, Palisade Decision Tools (e.g. @Risk), SAS’s JMP
