  • Overview

    The Joint Space and Strategic Capabilities Group (JSSC) supports the USAF Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. We provide timely and objective assessments to this Air Force Nuclear enterprise client.  JSSC assessments integrate the technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business aspects across the various elements of defense department planning, capability based planning and development, technology assessments, feasibility studies, and system acquisition processes.  We provide expertise across the program office including engineering, logistics, and front office executive services. Additionally, we have developed a computer model to optimize the sequencing and timing of activities from tearing down the Minuteman III ICBM silos, remodeling the infrastructure, and laying in the GBSD missile system all while maintaining the required alert rate.


    The successful candidate will oversee and manage technical project(s) and utilize their technical expertise to assess weapon system drawings, assess engineering realism within cost and schedule constraints, and serves as a liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. The individual will develop project-engineering plans and identify technical resources and constraints. Review status of engineering plans and drawings, manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assess issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and weapon system objectives. Duties include data mining; compiling and assembling data; 3D Finite Element Analysis; statistical analysis; preparation and presentation of analytical results; development and use of computer models tool sets to inform ongoing analysis projects.  Provide technical and analytical guidance to project team. Regularly produces and briefs products to clients.


    Required Qualifications:

    • BA/BS Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.
    • 7 years (5 with MS degree) of progressive experience in systems integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes.
    • 2 years of experience leading system design, integration, and analytical efforts.
    • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance.
    • The successful candidate will be a demonstrated self-starter that possesses a passion for applying analytical methods to address complex problems. 
    • The successful candidate must have demonstrated the ability and willingness to multi-task and be capable of applying innovative analysis to solve client problems.  

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Technical drawing experience – to include part material selection.
    • Technical drawing review experience - ability to review contractor delivered drawings and identify tolerance stack up issues, potential fitment issues, incorrect part numbers, etc.
    • 3D modeling experience - ability to create and modify 3D modeling (NX).
    • Finite Element Analysis experience - ability to develop finite element simulations for a variety of mechanical systems, as well as use finite element as an effective design tool.
    • The ability to prepare and present complex ideas in a clear and coherent form before an audience is desired.  Candidates must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
