  • Overview

    Within SOSD, the Strategic Development Group (SDG) delivers program planning, system engineering, financial analysis, safety analysis and assessments, CONOPS development, deployed systems support, and trade/risk analyses in support of Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).

    Responsibilities

    Support a fast-moving conventional weapons development program by providing critical safety program management and analysis skills in support of a system safety program. Requires frequent interface with the primary customer, support contractors, and other government agencies. Participates in a System Safety Working Group (SSWG) to plan, identify, analyze, resolve, track and control system risks. Helps plan, design, and execute safety program plan and safety test plan.  Prepares safety documentation and previews contractor safety documentation to support final reviews by Navy safety authorities.  Supports the lead system safety engineer.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in DoD weapon system safety and the application of safety analysis techniques.
    • Ability to support the Lead System Safety Engineer for a highly visible DoD program.
    • Perform safety analyses to include hazard identification, control, and tracking.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Secret security clearance.
    • Ability to travel approximately one week per month in the continental United States (CONUS.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Mid-level experience with DoD weapon system safety program management and hazard analysis skills.
    • DAWIA Program Management certification.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate.
    • Safety professional certification.
    • Associate safety professional certificate.
    • Knowledge of MIL-STD-882 system safety requirements.
    • Top Secret security clearance.
