  • Overview

    Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) provides multiple organizations within the Department of Defense with timely and objective assessments and recommendations that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis.  We focus on key clients in the undersea community including Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), and NAVSEA program managers for the COLUMBIA Class SSBNs and in service submarines.  We work to provide integrated solutions based on information and communications throughout the chain of command to ensure clear and consistent analysis and recommendations that are aligned to strategic and leadership goals while still being executable by the working level technical communities.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the Risk Management Program (RMP) lead in developing and maintaining an organizational risk management system for the Department of the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). SSP is a technically-focused high reliability organization. 
    • Assist the RMP in assessing SSP’s current risk management processes and organizational objectives to develop and maintain a risk management program.
    • Research, analyze, and develop written materials based upon information from individuals and internal and external policy sources.
    • Utilizing analytical risk management tools and understanding complex interrelationships between risks.
    • Understanding and utilizing standard risk management practices found in the Department of Defense and industry.
    • Providing day-to-day support for the conduct of routine business, including attending meetings, drafting memorandums, preparing presentations, and reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree in a technical field including Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Applied Physics. A non-technical degree may be accepted given demonstrated commensurate technical training (i.e., qualified Navy Nuclear Engineer)
    • 3-8 years of supervisory technical experience in a corporate or DoD setting
    • 1-3 years of experience in management of risks
    • Active Secret DoD clearance required
    • Basic understanding of probability and statistics
    • Ability to analyze an organization’s existing risk management policies
    • Ability to develop organizational policy materials
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications
