Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) provides multiple organizations within the Department of Defense with timely and objective assessments and recommendations that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis.  We focus on key clients in the undersea community including Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), and NAVSEA program managers for the COLUMBIA Class SSBNs and in service submarines.  We work to provide integrated solutions based on information and communications throughout the chain of command to ensure clear and consistent analysis and recommendations that are aligned to strategic and leadership goals while still being executable by the working level technical communities.  #CJ


SPA’s Strategic Systems Analysis Group seeks a passionate DevOps Engineer to maintain the group’s Atlassian Based Software Development Environment, and support development of software based analytical models and simulations.



  • Maintain a small deployment Atlassian Software Development Environment (Crowd, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo servers)
  • Develop custom workflows in Jira
  • Develop Continuous Integration pipelines in conjunction with lead model and simulation developers/analysts
  • Curate group’s repository of software libraries/applications and associated documentation
  • Train and support developers/analysts to use Atlassian Environment
  • Support development of group’s analytical models and simulations



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline
  • Ability to coach developers through the Continuous Integration process
  • Ability to train analyst/developers to utilize Atlassian products
  • 1 – 2 years of administering Atlassian Applications
  • 1 – 2 years of programming in Python, Java and MATLAB
  • 1 – 2 year of experience writing unit, integration and acceptance tests
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
  • Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and LDAP


  • Current DoD SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Physics or Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • 2 + years developing stochastic and deterministic models and simulations
  • 2 + years of programming in Python, Java and MATLAB
  • 2 + years building and maintaining continuous integration pipelines
  • 2 + years developing unit, integration, and acceptance tests
  • 2 + years administering and developing plugins for Atlassian products
  • 2 + years supporting national security related programs, preferably analytic programs within the DOD
  • Strong understanding of Anaconda Python distribution is a plus!
