  • Overview

    The SPA Defense Strategy and Policy Team within the Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) advises and provides analysis to senior Department of Defense customers on a wide range of national security issues including; the development of defense strategy concepts, deterrence related policy and strategy products, and advanced operating concepts. The team has broad expertise working at the most senior levels of government, and specializes in integrating complex and crosscutting issues for senior decision makers.



    Provide data analysis to support HQDA, G-8 Force Development efforts to establish the proper resources to transform and modernize the Army while ensuring it remains a strategically responsive and dominant force. Provide detailed, objective analysis through a variety of operations research techniques to present recommendations regarding Army force structure, mission, and programs to balance current force needs with future force requirements. Anticipate and respond to customer needs by proactively identifying problem areas or opportunities and presenting solutions and plans. Develop and present briefings, papers, and demonstrations of analytic results to clients to support decision-making.



    • Experience providing analysis, reviews, and recommendations in support of validation, prioritization, and approval of future war fighter requirements to include validation of Army JCIDS documents (ICD, CDD, CPD) in support of the AROC or JROC process.
    • Experience conducting data analysis focused on program procurement, lifecycle, and maintenance cost tradeoffs.
    • Experience developing investment and resourcing strategies for Service and Joint programs.
    • Experience with the POM/PPBE processes, such as programming and defending requirements.
    • Must be capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.
    • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines.
    • Experience developing clear and concise communications products suited to the audience.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • SECRET clearance.
    • US citizenship is required.


    • Experience programming in any of the following languages: SAS, Python, R, SPSS.
    • TOP SECRET clearance.
    • Army experience highly desired.
