  • Overview

    Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) is looking for an Assistant Controller professional to become part of our team. Directly reporting  to the VP, Controller, you will assist and be a primary force in all aspects of the day-to-day accounting and month-end close processes, including journal entries, receivables, payables, timekeeping, labor distribution while ensuring accuracy and completeness. You have strong experience in accounting for federal government contracts, and a strong work understanding of government cost accounting standards (CAS) and the FAR. In addition, you have an expert proficiency with Deltek Costpoint 7. #IN123

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the productivity and effectiveness of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, general ledger, financial reporting & cost accounting
    • Ensures all transactions are recorded in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles GAAP and DCAA regulations
    • Assure consistent accounting practices and principles are applied at every level
    • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
    • Manage and reconcile all general ledger accounts monthly
    • Calculation and/or review of indirect rates
    • Assist with preparation of incurred cost submissions
    • Assist in the accurate and timely execution of month and quarter-end close processes, allowing for timely management reporting
    • Supervision and training of AP and Staff accountants
    • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
    • Work with Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to deliver budgeting, forecasting and cash flow analysis.
    • Evaluate, implement, and enhance systems to further automate processes for efficiencies and effectiveness while maintaining internal controls and adhering to government regulatory compliance
    • Assist with review and implement changes to internal accounting controls as needed
    • Participate in preparation for the annual audit
    • Interface with external auditors

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager for Government Contractor
    • Extensive experience with Deltek Costpoint 7 and Time Collection required
    • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
    • Working knowledge of FAR & CAS
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
    • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
    • Strong analytical and presentation skills
    • Knowledge of Indirect Rates and Incurred Cost Submissions

    Desired Qualifications
