The Simulation, Operational Analysis & Wargaming Group (SOWG) provides senior Government decision makers with timely and objective assessments evaluating military operations across the spectrum of conflict for a range of Department of Defense (DoD) customers.  The group’s primary focus is providing operational/technical analysis and program management support at the program office level, including client site support at the Pentagon and Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO). Our team of experienced military analysts and operations research analysts integrate warfare expertise with advanced analytic methods - to deliver assessments and strategies to top level decision makers. #IN123



Lead and support the development of software tools and analytic capabilities to meet mission needs. Responsibilities will include working with knowledge management tools, database applications, and display/visualization systems. Design and architect solutions and work within a team to implement agile design sprints in an operational environment. Capable of exploring alternate software design approaches (usually in design sprints) to determine the best solution within time, resource, and cost constraints. Ensure that projects are well documented while supporting the entire software lifecycle.


Required Qualifications:

  • Interim DoD Top Secret clearance or Higher and previous software development experience (3-5+ years)
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) or non-technical degree with demonstrated technical acumen
  • Familiarity and experience working with DoD analytical modeling and simulation tools (e.g. STORM, AFSIM, NSS, GCAM)
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a team developing rigorous software and analytic solutions
  • Exercise independent judgment and work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues with senior decision makers
  • Experience developing web interfaces using: HTML, Javascript, SharePoint, SVG, XSL, XML
  • Proficient with the MS Office Suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Visual Basic.Net, C++, C#.Net, Java, Python, Visual Basic for Applications (all MS Office Products)


Desired Qualifications: 

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance and previous software development experience (5-8+ years)
  • Master’s degree completed or enrolled in an accredited STEM Master’s Program
  • Demonstrated ability in applying innovative concepts, quantitative tools, and creative data visualization methods
  • Previous experience with software development in secure environments
  • Experience and proficiency with Database design and SQL
  • Experience with software development management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc)
