SPA’s CSD Group provides advanced analytics and decision support to civilian government clients including DOE, DHS, NASA, HHS, and others.  Focus areas includes Operations Research, Risk Analysis, Data Science, and Modeling and Simulation.

 

SPA has a near term requirement for one Junior level (2-7 yrs of experience) and one Mid-Level/Journeyman Operations Research Analyst (8-12 yrs of experience) in support of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS's) Infrastructure Security Division (ISD).

 

Responsibilities

The successful Operations Research Analyst will: 1)  Construct and execute planning scenarios related to WMD and critical infrastructure risk analysis, 2) Conduct focus groups to gather model input values, 3) Design experiments and modeling campaigns to fully evaluate a defined decision space, 4)  Verify model performance using best modeling practices for troubleshooting and error recognition and reconciliation, 5) Visualize and summarize model results for technical and non-technical audiences, 6) Implement operations research methodologies and modeling tools to support program execution, 7)  Develop plans of action and timetables in order to meet established deadlines, and 8) Develop briefings, memos, and Contract Deliverables.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, quantitative social sciences, or a related discipline
  • Experience in any of the following programming languages: Python, R, VBA
  • Familiarity with decision trees and/or fault tree analysis
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines. Experience developing compelling written and visual communications that are clear, concise, and suited to the audience
  • Possess an active SECRET clearance, with the ability to obtain TS

Desired

  • Experience providing analytic support to the Department of Homeland Security
  • Basic knowledge of scientific principles of weapons of mass destruction and critical infrastructure operations
  • 3+ years' experience performing quantitative risk analysis
