The SPA Defense Strategy and Policy Team within the Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) advises and provides analysis to senior Department of Defense customers on a wide range of national security issues including; the development of defense strategy concepts, deterrence related policy and strategy products, and advanced operating concepts. The team has broad expertise working at the most senior levels of government, and specializes in integrating complex and crosscutting issues for senior decision makers.

 

SPA has a near term need for a Strategy and Policy Analyst to provide research and analysis support to strategy, policy, and planning efforts to National Guard (NG)-J55 Plans Division, NG-J5.

Responsibilities

  • Basic Services - Research and provide data analysis to National Guard (NG)-J55 Plans Division, NG-J5.
  • National Guard Strategic Planning System (NGSPS) - Provide research, analysis, and recommendations in continuous development of NGSPS.
  • Congressional Reports & Strategic Planning – Coordinate with public affairs POCs for strategic communications and congressional reports, compiling and recommending adjudication for comments using comment resolution matrix (CRM).
  • Joint Strategic Planning System – Provide weekly analysis and research on Government policy statements and speeches for impacts to NG interests.
  • General Research - Track and review strategic documents provided by DoD and Government, developing information papers on updates that impact NG. Attend policy think tanks and events in NCR, providing executive summaries and trend analysis.
  • Domestic Capabilities Priorities (DCP) – Develop information papers detailing status and progress of ongoing NG-J5 DCP initiatives.
  • Plan Development & Review – Perform plan development and review functions, attending planner and senior officer forums, researching and analyzing information in preparation for senior reviews and briefings.
  • State All Hazard Plans Initiative – Monitor continuous development of all hazards plans. Collect, review, and assess draft multi state plans and campaign support plans. Propose updates and plan improvements, integrating with state organizations and agencies.
  • Task Management Tool (TMT) – Research and analyze info requests received through TMT application.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Junior: 3 years experience providing research and analysis support to strategy, policy, and planning efforts; BA/BS degree in a related field.
  • Mid/Journeyman: 3-10 years experience providing research and analysis support to strategy, policy, and planning efforts; BA/BS or MA/MS degree in a related field.
  • Senior: More than ten years experience providing research and analysis support to strategy, policy, and planning efforts; BA/BS or MA/MS degree in a related field.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
