Primary job duties: The Security Specialist assists the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in many security efforts, including facility access control, security clearance processing, and classified material development, handling, downgrading and destruction processes. - Determine and execute the proper actions on incoming and outgoing classified documents including classification/declassification, downgrading, safeguarding, access, disposition, reproduction, accountability, dissemination, retention and destruction. Manage classified holdings using an automated document control database. - Review classified material to ensure it is properly marked in accordance with both DoD classification guides as well as project specific classification marking- Conduct internal document audits and take corrective actions.- Process incoming and outgoing Visit Request Authorization via JPAS and other approved systems. Coordinate security clearances for large meetings. - Process employees for security clearances using e-QIP.
